Pros

Can work at any time

Cons

Avoid being a Telus rater at all costs. To be an employee you have to agree to give them all of your personal data- they have access to all of your email messages, internet search history, and more. If I wasn't desperate for cash I never would have agreed to this. The pay is terrible - $14/hr. You can't get in touch with anyone ever- multiple emails go unanswered for months at a time. They don't care about you at all and don't explain the purpose of this job- it's like being in Black Mirror or Severance. Absolutely terrible experience and only for the truly desperate. To add insult to injury, I just received an immediate termination notice with no reason for firing- my scores were good and I met all the requirements of my contract. Of course, there has been no response to my emails requesting a reason so I can file for unemployment. Absolutely despicable.

Pros

Flexible remote work - You can work from home and set your own schedule around other commitments. No commute required. Interesting work - The rating tasks provide intellectual stimulation and allow you to learn new things. Low barrier to entry - No prior experience required. Telus provides all the training you need. Additional income - It can be a nice side gig for extra money in addition to a primary job.

Cons

Pay could be better - The pay rate starts at $14/hr which is decent but not high. No benefits provided. Repetitive tasks - Rating can become tedious and monotonous over time. Little feedback - You don't often get feedback on your quality or performance. Ratings monitored - Your work quality is monitored and must meet standards to remain employed. Tax requirements - You must keep track of and pay your own taxes as an independent contractor. Requires concentration - This is focus intensive work, not a mindless side gig you can do while multitasking.
