Pros

I get to do multiple task each day to keep it from becoming to much of a routine which makes it bearable.

Cons

High expectations are placed on everyone and I don't feel you get recognized for hard work you do.

Pros

TJ Maxx was a solid blend of minimal responsibility and varied experience. I went in with no experience, no resume, nada, but by the time I left I could put down experience in just about every area of the store possible--even sales, 'cause I was lucky enough to get put behind the jewelry counter regularly. One thing I really appreciate in hindsight (now working a small sales-oriented company) is that I wasn't expected to take much abuse from customers. All in all, a good first-time job, particularly if you need it as a secondary thing.

Cons

Pay was very low; annual review meant you got taken up a few cents every year. The company will do its best to keep just about everyone's hours low unless they're a coordinator or above; after 2 years I was just barely getting 30 hours a week. By far my least favorite part of the job was the pressure to sign people up for the (terrible) credit card. Every couple years the managers get shifted around to different stores, which meant that by the end of my term there I really didn't care for my management team and a lot of good sales associates asked for transfers or quit (pretty big staff, though, so not something that could be helped); a lot of my personal complaints (requiring schedule requests 3 weeks in advance but not putting up a schedule until the day of) really depend on the managers you have.
