Pros

It's a federal job with good benefits. This has helped to open the door for me to other federal jobs that I am looking into.

Cons

Dealing with difficult passengers and their negative comments about us doing our jobs. Passengers will blame you for their problems. Some passengers arrive at the security checkpoint 5 minutes before their flight and they expect you to help them skip to the front of the line.

Pros

- Great benefits - The job is available in most cities with an commercial airports ( not Kansas City -MCI) so you can transfer - Part of an important security job

Cons

- salary after benefits is about 700/mo - cannot advance unless fulltime and those positions are not available or filled based on seniority - very poor training environment - use negative training (stick not carrot) - alot of yelling - other TSOs fight with each other - not a team atmosphere (think their hate each other) - shifts change yearly based on a bidding process (seniority counts) - have to be able to not care about passengers feelings (i.e., you took my great grandmother's pen knife) - get no respect from the TSA management or passengers - TSA management is ALWAYS grading you and testing you - like giving out demerits - turn-over is greater than 70% the first year
