Pros

You feel like your agency has a real sense of purpose - to protect the public Good pay Good benefits

Cons

People (the general public) does not respect the federal govt. Good benefits- but it isn't cheap and it comes out of your check - However you never get a Dr. bill showing insurance didn't pay. People in management can make or break you - if you have poor managers it really ruins the work place!

Pros

A good place to work; training to learn skills if one is willing to put in the effort. Management is approachable to discuss issues Fast paced work environment; great place to use customer service skills Leave the job at work, not taking worries home after the shift is finished If one is very sincere in their desire to perform their duties everyday on a shift as directed, and perform non-stop what is expected, their efforts will be noticed. Some great people working here, who are invested in performing their jobs. Full time employees have great benefits. The best job I ever had, and I wish I was still there

Cons

Prepare to work holidays. Do not do anything that could get you injured; OWCP is a nightmare and most doctors will not take federally injured workers as patients. It's also impossible to get timely treatment to get one back to work; and then the consequences are not good. Can be a stressful job performing customer service; passengers can be uncooperative, and not happy about having to go through the screening process. Be prepared to let this stress to roll off and not take it personally. The hours and days off are not flexible, except for digging into vacation time if one needs a day off for anything.

Pros

i started to work early so it allowed me move quickly through ranks. Good stepping stone for other government jobs. Many opportunities for different jobs.

Cons

its the government so there are hundreds of reports and many restrictions that are not in private field. Rules change daily.
