Most managers I’ve worked with are knowledgeable and you get to learn a lot of things. Some, which is true for most organizations, are incompetent or just plain lazy.
The workload is a little erratic due to the different projects here and there, but that’s not an issue. I’ve worked with several organizations and the situation is the same. I guess there are cases when organizations bite more than they can chew. For some projects, timelines are crazy and they expect things to get done fast. The management should learn how to say no and push unreasonable deadlines back because it affects productivity.
The pay is ridiculously low for internal promotions. This is the biggest con ever. I mean, come on, the company should rethink how it rewards the so-called “performers” in the organization.
Let’s say an employee is new to the role, yes, that person has to learn a lot of things, but it does not justify the meager pay compared to the people who are hired externally. Imagine how you would feel if you are working the same job, but you are getting pennies compared to your peers. This rubs me off the wrong way.
If offering fair base pay is not possible for a newly promoted employee, then why not increase the base pay after a year? But yeah, pay raises here are few and far between. It is sad people who have been working with the company and have moved up the ladder are lowballed.
Yes, external hires may sacrifice some things, for example, the security they have with their previous employer, not to mention the thought of TTEC not working out for them. But still, the pay gap is vast between internal and external hires.
I guess the only way for you to increase your pay is to move to another company that sees your worth and is ready to pay for what you bring to the table.
I’m still with the company and I love working here; however, I’ll jump ship if an opportunity presents itself. No one is irreplaceable. But it’s sad to lose talent for a company that wants to save a few bucks.
