Pros

Great benefits and the staff are great.

Cons

I love the mission behind Talbert House, but leadership needs to do better. They work the front line staff to death with no compensation. The burn out is real.

Thank you for posting your review. We know that our Operations Supervisors are among our hardest working staff members. You are so critical to our mission and we appreciate your dedication to the agency and our mission more than you know. The workload you are experiencing is due to staffing vacancies for both line staff and our support teams. We need your help filling these openings. Here is the information you need to know about compensation at Talbert House. We actually just adjusted our pay rates, again for the 3rd time in two years, raising pay for front line residential support staff and fee for service case managers and counselors. Because we are a non-profit, we have to wait for available funding increases from our local, state and federal funding partners before we can make pay adjustments. Therefore, we make them for selected job groups each year. A recent market compensation benchmarking study revealed that we are offering competitive wages for the health and human services industry. This year our employees who meet the criteria will also be receiving an agency performance bonus. We also offer new employee referral bonuses, and our fee for service staff can earn productivity bonuses. On top of that we offer one of the most competitive healthcare benefits packages in the region (zero-deductible insurance, premium rates that are 28% lower than those offered by companies like us, and employer paid premium costs > 90% for individual coverage), along with a 50% retirement match (up to 14% of salary), employer-paid life insurance, short and long term disability insurance, and other employee discounts and perks. We are working hard to reward our staff as much as we can for their dedication and hard work. Thank you again, for being on our team. Please contact me via email if you want to discuss further. Take Care. Maureen Donnellan Habel, VP Talent and Engagement Office

Pros

Benefits are really good, pay is OK considering non-profit status, volunteering opportunities are always present. coworkers are good people, and easy to get along with. flexibility in schedule is nice

Cons

Some staff were just put into a position due to nepotism, or possibly because they asked for more responsibility, but don't really have an understanding of the day to day. When i made a mistake I was just told i could no longer do the process, instead of being coached on the error, and shown what i did wrong. When I attempted to ask why something was occuring i was told to basically just do what they asked, and they didn't know why issue was occuring (or care enough to find the root cause.) Both of the last two issues are creating more work for the staff in my department as a result. The process for making corrections within the system is adding an unnecessary layer of complexity. while i understand it is mostly done for documentation purposes waiting days for a correction to be made is annoying
