Pros

Room for advancement, decent benefits and insurence, flexible, lots of training available if you have time to take the trainings, good programs and services

Cons

Low pay that isn’t cooperative, they don’t value their employees, many people in management don’t have enough experience and skills due to high turnover, many employees don’t do what they are supposed to do which can be extremely frustrating for employees that want to help others

Pros

You are making an impact in someones life which is a beautiful thing and most of the people that you work with are trying to do they best they can with what they have. Management tries their best to support you but every single day is a crisis and managing client crisis is their only priority.

Cons

This is a "warm body is better than nobody" type of job. All you need is a degree and they don't care what it is in. While this is great if you need a job is this the best policy when working with a fragile population? Probably not. You are expected to be a therapist, confidant, chauffeur, super sleuth, and advocate. They pile your case loads up to the extreme because turnover is incredibly high and when someone leaves they split their cases with you. I ended up with over 3 times my contracted caseload, it is not possible to provide the level of care that each individual needs when your case load is supposed to be 21 and you end up with over 70 clients. You need to have a strong self-care routine to work here.
