Pros

- Your store is like a family, become very connected with a huge range of people from 15 year olds to 70 year olds. - Great to share store successes with your team

Cons

- If you want to have a life outside of your job at any point Target is not the right retailer for you. Additional days are a given and 60+ hour work weeks common even during off-peak times. - The companies poor sales results over the last few years has resulted in ever-shrinking wages even for stores improving year on year. More work getting shoved onto Management. - Logistic processes are outdated from the 80's, many stores unable to handle in-flow stock capacities once at a certain size. - Little to no training or guides on how to improve store functions, stock flow, register processes etc. - Huge, huge senior company leadership turnover, has gone through 3 Managing Directors in the past 5 years. - Store Support Office's solution to poor sales is increasing width of range items causing significant in-store issues with space management, very poor retail planning. Has been concerncing for 5-6 half year seasons now and only getting worse. - No incentive to think outside the box let alone implementing changes on a store level. - Stores have no individual flair, run very much the same leaving little room for innovation and evolution of best practice. - Communication overall is confusing and jumbled, mixed consumer messages although getting more focused as of late.

It isn't too bad as a casual position.

Pros

Good place to meet people and build customer service skills.

Cons

Retail industry is in a hole. Lower management is very underpaid and not worth it. Opportunity to get more shifts if you're casual.
