Pros

As a pharmacist the company has an appreciation of the pharmacy as an important contributor to the business. Also, they will never put in a drive-up window. The companies marketing has a positive impact on the customer; they like you before they even open your mouth

Cons

Target has overly aggressive goals and pays far too much credit to the metrics they use to track the progress toward those goals. They spend millions advertising on almost every channel and then pinch pennies in every department in every store. In the pharmacy for instance we use a computer system which is hopelessly out of date and in my opinion lacks the essential features to make our job safe and allow us to carry out our job as rapidly as the company demands based on our time to fill metric. They regularly under staff in every department, and the pharmacy is no exception. The company culture has dogmatized a rigorous adherence to centrally generated policies that are out of touch, short sighted, and overall detrimental to the smooth operation of the business. i.e. if you demand excellent guest service then give your team members the tools and staffing to handle the metrics you set.

Pros

It is a pretty easy job, but I was surprised how many people are incapable of doing simple tasks.

Cons

Management tends to have unrealistic expectations of workload. Instead of setting realistic and achievable goals, they just ask for more, more, more. If you have horrible coworkers, their work piles up on yours. Instead of trying to retrain employees, just fire the ones who cannot meet expectations. Some managers are managers because they plaid the waiting game. That goes for Store Managers, Team Leads, and Floor Managers so do not be surprised if you find some of them to be incompetent and difficult to deal with.

Pros

The pay and compensation is great, especially the yearly bonuses.

Cons

Target loves to preach wonderful culture and great work life balance but does not offer either. The pay is great, but you will work 55+ hours, especially if you want to get promoted!!! If you are on your way up and are "invaluable" in your position, you will be constantly called, texted, and asked to rearrange your schedule for various visits, conference calls and events. It's ridiculous.
