My store was excellent--it's one of the top stores in a group of something like 200--but it has some deep flaws. Middle management (most Team Leads and some ETLs) is full of people who have "put in the time" but have little penchant for increasing their skill sets, accepting employee feedback, and leading any kind of change unless forced by upper management. Both middle and upper management were extremely "by-the-book" with best practice, and while I appreciate the desire to implement company policy, little thought was taken into how these practices were created and how to adapt them into to the day-to-day. Variation and new ideas were often criticized when they oftentimes lead to a better guest experience; little room for innovation was left.
