Pros

Teavana is a wonderful company. Purchased by Starbucks in 2012, Teavana offers good benefits and interesting experiences for those interested in loose leaf tea. One of the benefits: currently make 2% commission off my sales. This changes occasionally, but you always get something. Also, because it is a partner with Starbucks, you can easily transfer between the two.

Cons

Teavana is in the first stages of closing its doors. While still hiring, these will be for seasonal workers. The whole of the company (including the online) will be closed by spring of 2018.

Pros

DRINKS: You get free drinks while on-the-clock. GRATIS + DISCOUNT: You get discounts at Starbucks and weekly gratis (coffee beans, Keurig cups, etc.). ENVIRONMENT: Friendly and calm, for the most part, except for terrible management. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM through Starbucks. GOOD HOURS FOR STUDENTS.

Cons

MANAGEMENT: First and foremost. The upper-level management does not take care of things properly by any means. I had serious issues at my store, which I reported, but nothing of value was done to fix these problems. People keep quitting in droves, so they seem desperate to keep anyone. STARBUCKS: Teavana is losing its uniqueness and sincerity. New teas aren't innovative and rarely have actual tea (white, green, black, oolong) in them. The product and marketing clash with the old earthy tones of the store as they orient toward millenials. POOR TRAINING: On all levels, and it is inconsistent from store to store.

Pros

As a tea lover, getting free tea every day was great. My coworkers were absolutely wonderful, everyone was friends. Customers were usually really friendly, I never dealt with an angry customer.

Cons

My store was insanely understaffed and upper management did nothing to help. This resulted in all current employees being over-schedules, which results in a burn out. We were given managerial responsibilities while still only making 9 an hour. The company puts a TON of stress on sales, especially certain merchandise. Encouraged very pushy sales tactics. Starbucks branding has resulted in a lot of fruity sugary nonsense and overly colorful merchandise.
