Most managers have bad leadership skils and no interest in training and coaching direct reports. Relationships manager-report are too uneven, no respect for direct reports' ideas an opinions. Direct reports should only follow orders, no possibility of bringing your own ideas.

Culture clash: the way they work is just very different than an American way of working and this is never communicated to the local or the international employees. The international postings do not come with training on laws or business culture. This means there can be violations without the person knowing they are in violation. Even the dress code is different from country to country. Announcements for the most basic of things are never communicated. Rumors abound.
