Pros

Great co-workers and very seasoned Data Warehousing professionals. Technology is solid and works well. For me pay was good and work life / balance was OK. I was either waiting on work or working 60 hours a week with travel.

Cons

Lack of focus on PS sales... They are in the mode of selling anything with poor SOW's agreed upon with customers. Not getting big deals or partnering with IBM/Accenture and others to help grow business. The virtual office is good/bad, it is very difficult to network or know what is happening in the company. Difficult to get training. I almost finished the complete Architecture class list then they changed it or would not allow me to go to critical training. Did not support me getting Hadoop training or Data Science/Analytics classes. Then laid me off since I didn't have Hadoop training.

Pros

Teradata DBMS technology is the best in the industry. A lot of autonomy for PS Consultants. Institutional body of knowledge.

Cons

Structure is very top-heavy, more senior management than mid-level supervisors and front-line workers. Sales team is average at best. The most belligerent and abusive people are promoted. Strategic direction is unclear even to senior management.

Pros

Teradata field sales management has always valued its individual contributors, and tries to accommodate their personal needs. Teradata technology works as advertised, making it easy to represent with integrity.

Cons

1.2015 layoffs appear to be based on personnel cost considerations, without regard for contribution of individuals to sales successes. 2. Presale Solution Architects (really sales engineers) are expected to also spend a portion of their time delivering on billable Professional Services projects. 3. Senior management tends toward micromanagement, with many internal review meetings held too often.
