Pros

Easy access to HR and other support staff Asks my opinion of contracts Free flowing communication Free healthcare (bottom level but hey free and other great options available) Stock options!

Cons

I already had insurance and did not realize they gave me free insurance. Lead to headaches but they were very good throughout the situation.

ARD in Burlington, Vermont

Pros

Project people are great; focused on improving the lives of others, office politics is rare. Management from the top down is very supportive, despite having to incorporate some of Tetratech's bureaucracy into an otherwise casual, intimate, collaborative culture. ARD employs more PhD's per capita than most universities, so you're surrounded by smart professionals. Lots of after hours activities with colleagues. Burlington is #1 city in USA to live in. Pay is negotiable and good w/good benefits. Travel around the world to different projects. I highly recommend anyone in International Development work to consider the enjoyable environment here, provided you can adapt to Vermont's weather!

Cons

The business office is full of politics and backstabbing. The top people are of limited competence and will mistreat and eventually boot anyone who they perceive as a threat to their positions. I don't recommend anyone applying for a position within this department.

Pros

Work a lot of hours weekly, anywhere from 60-80 hrs per week. Lots of overtime and the pay is weekly. You also meet a lot of people at work and it's a laid back atmosphere .

Cons

Low hourly rate, $11 per hour and only $1 per diem per work hour for gas allowance. You will use a LOT of gas per week commuting throughout the city. Position is only temporary and can end at any time.
