There are no good reasons to work here

Cons

The lowest graduation rate in Texas, the lowest graduation rate among all the HBCU's. Preisdent Rudley told us these facts at November 2011 faculty meeting. But no plans to improve the culture and promote honest good people. Everything is based on nepotism and favoritism like when Slade was President. Nothing has changed. Very depressing place to work. If I could leave I would but I am stuck. Additionally, a faculty and administration that are at odds with each other over the direction of the university.

Happy Hour Food No need to be professional, you'll be ostracized for that.

Cons

Loud environment. No accountability for students because "they give us our salary" Even if you love your job, you need an exit strategy. Vindictive administration.

Autonomy in curricular structure, no one is standing over your shoulder, flexibility in in-person hours, Spring, Winter and Summer breaks

Cons

Little to no accountability, promotion of only the inner circle, lack of accreditation for some degree programs, pervasive miscommunication across the campus, insanely high turnover of senior leadership, mismanagement of funds
