Great mission with the wrong leadership
Pros
The work that The Bowery Mission has potential to do is amazing. Some lives are transformed, and some of the people who work there really are giving their all to reach the poor and marginalized.
Cons
Management does not listen to feedback of employees. Although they take regular surveys to collect feedback, negative feedback is often excused or justified. They fight harder to keep the executive leaders who are not doing their jobs than they do to keep the staff who are doing excellent work. When staff are overworked and express that they are tired, they are told that it's part of working for a ministry. Executive leadership covers up information from CEO. When CEO discovers the truth, executive team blames their direct reports and continues to tell partial truths. CEO is not accountable for what he didn't know, but he is accountable for trusting executives who have a track record of not being forthcoming with him.
