Pros

Great culture and most of my colleagues are wonderful. Working from home can be a benefit for many, flexible shifts, decent benefits, and supposed career growth. A good manager/supervisor is vitally important to how you feel about Cigna.

Cons

Low pay for a difficult, stressful, emotionally draining position. Not even an encyclopedia can handle all the information you are supposed to know. Supervisors are hard to reach for assistance, a good one can help you keep your sanity and make a world of difference in how your day is. But if you're lucky enough to get a crap supervisor who does nothing to get to know you or assist you can bring you down considerably. There are many, many questions you will have and the most common answer you will get is someone telling you to use Knowledge Exchange, or Cigna's internal Google. The problem with that it can take a long time to create a question that the AI will give an accurate answer to. That can be very inefficient, and even more difficult to do with a customer on the line continually asking questions or making it clear that it's taking too long. So even just providing the correct article to look up would help, but that is not how it's done, and with a manager who's too busy to ever get back to you, good luck. figuring things out. The rate of Band 1 employees getting promoted to better positions is extremely low. Hard to feel a lot of warmth for a job like this- they are always hiring for this position because it's a revolving door entry level position.

Swiftly Declining

Pros

Decent PTO and EAP benefits

Cons

The best part of Cigna used to be remote work and freedom to take initiative and opportunity for stretch assignments. Now the "Future of Work" requires everyone to go into a physical office at least half of every work week, regardless of the distance from taht aligned office. Also mass layoffs right now. There's a lot of micromanagement, Nepotism/cliques/favoritism affects hiring and promotions more than achievement. If you are a strong performer, you will drown in work while less competent teammates coast on half-completed work and will never be promoted or rewarded through compensation. It feels now like employees are being kept out of the loop, manipulated, and underappreciated.

Pros

The pay and culture were very positive for some time but both have significantly declined (pay relatively to the industry) in the last few years

Cons

I have worked for Cigna, formerly Express Scripts, for 9 years and I have worked from home for the past 6. I do not work with anyone in my "local" office on even a monthly basis as my team and those I work closely with are based elsewhere but HR is currently going on a rampage of return to office mandates without any evaluation of the individual's work or team, including threats and badge scanning. I understand even those hired specifically as work from home and now having to make a tough decision about driving long distances each way. The company is not listening to employee feedback and this has been a hot topic where folks have shared their true feelings on every town hall. Do not seek a position here if you are expecting any kind of remote work. I am being asked to commute 1.5 hours each way to talk to an office with no one I work with.
