Pros

good work/life balance...as long as the work gets done, people are pretty flexible. company overall is very solid, very strong cash flow.

Cons

limited upside in career since few roles are being created and people are not exiting. it's who you know and not what you know. there is quite a bit of politicking going on. sometimes, you really need to cover your butt...some people will compliment you to your face, but go and throw you under the bus if they need to save themselves. WATCH YOUR BACK!!

Pros

Work on top brands, and develop your knowledge of consumer marketing. Lots of exposure to senior managers, and most of the people care about you.

Cons

Very high stress. Lots of work to be done, but very little decision making. You analyze things to death, even when answers are obvious. They are extremely risk-averse and do not move quickly at all. There is a need for the company and its employees to embrace change. The pay is also very mediocre, especially in the Bay Area. They benchmark salaries vs. comparable jobs in the Midwest.

Pros

Clorox will give you responsibility from day one. They may not train you for it, but you can have an impact early if you are a self-starter and understand relationships. You can have some work life balance if you are competent, know how to say 'no', and can recognize downtime when it comes around.

Cons

Layers of managment complicate decision making and action. Alignment is king. It takes 2 weeks to do the work and anther four to navigate things through the system of 'leadership teams'. Managment will eventually make a medium-hard call with 150% of the necessary data when trapped like a rat in a cage. The entire company is run on 18-24 month AMM assignment cycles. If you work on a business for more than a year or two, it starts to feel like groundhog day. New ideas are few and far between and often get killed by the system. No one can say yes to something, but anyone can say no. Promotion is slow just about everywhere. Don't be afraid to leverage outside offers to get what you need. It has created legions of directors. When a mid-senior position is open, they will tend to look outside first. Clorox loves the new employee and tends to ignore rising internal talent until there is a crisis. No detail is too insignificant for Clorox to measure, discuss, and fail to act on. If you want to spend your career trying to cajole others into agreeing on how to gather data and interpret it, this is the place for you!
