Worth The Drive!

Pros

I worked previously at another healthcare system closer to home so I was hesitant to commit to a 40 minute commute but Guthrie has been a wonderful place to work. I feel support from co-workers, colleagues and senior leadership. Our department feels like a second family. The expectations are high and the work is challenging (after all, this is healthcare!) but I am part of a great team that works hard, is highly accountable but likes to have fun in the process. People seem to advance or move on to new opportunities at Guthrie, which demonstrates that leadership recognizes talent. We are one of the few health systems in the region not affiliated or owned by a larger entity, which is refreshing. Health benefits are excellent. I love it here!

Cons

Certain business practices can be a bit behind the times and it would be nice not to have to use PTO for holidays. Rural location can make it hard to attract talent.

Pros

Guthrie provides me a work experience that is fulfilling and appreciated. I enjoy my work and the people I work with. I rarely traveled to Sayre before working here and wasn't crazy about driving 30 minutes to work each day but now that I have been doing it for several years, I really don't mind the drive as it gives me time to unwind and think about what I need to accomplish each day. Medical benefits are top of the line.

Cons

Probably the only inconvenience is that you have to park across town and take a shuttle. The shuttle service is quite reliable and you do get used to this but it would be nice to have access to your vehicle during the work day.
