      Management rewards politics, not competence

      Pros

      They hire smart talented people.

      Cons

      Most of those smart people don’t stay. A culture that rewards brown-nosing and office politics over real competence makes it hard for high performers to tolerate the environment. People who can easily get hired elsewhere leave, while incompetence is promoted and protected. Over time, the talent drains out, and the quality of work and people noticeably declines. This isn’t a hiring issue — it’s a management and leadership failure.

      Pros

      Good pay and benefits. Healthcare in particular is excellent.

      Cons

      Managers are mostly “finance bros” which is fine if you are in the “in crowd” but if you are not you’ll end up doing all of the work for little credit or acknowledgement

      Not what it used to be

      Pros

      TMF used to be a great place work— decent benefits and lots of smart, creative colleagues. It is especially generous if you want to have children and take advantage of paid parental leave.

      Cons

      They blame it on remote work, but the real downfall of the once great TMF is the practically Ponzi-scheme like leadership mixed with Emperor wears no clothes brown nosing. Despite all communication to the contrary, decisions are made by small group of Tom’s inner circle, who often lack any experience with the effects of those decisions. Leadership cowtows to Tom’s whims, I assume to protect and advance their own careers.
