In the words of Liz Ryan, a workplace expert, "Once a healthy, vibrant culture starts going downhill, it’s very difficult to change it back."
TMF is showing all the signs: policies become harsher, metrics take the place of human decision-making, and employees' needs fall to the bottom of the priority list. A once-great culture that cultivated employee engagement, camaraderie, and loyalty is being painfully dismantled.
The individual success coaching for employees was eliminated without any discussion or announcement. A DOGE-like atmosphere has descended, with indiscriminate buyout offers reducing headcount without any strategy, forcing employees to sign a "loyalty to AI" oath (or be asked to leave), and in the absence of goals or objectives, requests for employees to justify their existence in writing instead of relying on managers and leaders to gauge performance and need.
The company is increasingly relying on contractors who lack institutional knowledge, an understanding of "Foolish", and have no reason to buy into the culture.
The CTO is unprofessional and does not engage with employees. The CEO stays removed and hides behind video "demos" and only wants to hear what he already believes. He sows chaos in the ranks by constantly chasing the latest shiny object and changing priorities on a dime. If you disagree with him or present a contrary opinion, you are considered a liability.
The company has money management businesses (billion-dollar five-star funds) for which it does not provide adequate marketing resources or relevant employee compensation plans.
Pay raises have become a joke, falling so far behind the market and inflation that you actually lose money by working there. They brought in a 'compensation manager' who is an accountant with no experience in Human Resources or compensation benchmarking. It seems that this individual was placed in this role solely to justify the poor compensation decisions and collect the loyalty oaths.
However, if the CEO likes you, your manager likes you, and you don't cause trouble or question anything, you can work from home and receive some decent benefits.
