      Great place to work until, it isn't. It's mostly a game of smoke and mirrors that exploits conservationists and donors.

      Pros

      Working to promote conservation, not micromanaged, lots of on the job training, work in beautiful areas protecting and restoring wonderful ecological habitats. Many passionate people work here which was wonderful to experience the camaraderie.

      Cons

      Lack of HR support, expectations to work extremely long hours, high turnover for a reason, and they will push you towards burnout then reprimand you when it inevitably occurs. One supervisor can make or break the employee. The culture rewards those that learn to do very little, but blow their own horn. After dedicating myself for ten years to the organization, I learned to be very productive and successful which becomes threatening to those who spend their time taking credit for your work.

      Great mission. Smart, committed co-workers. Impress your friends and neighbors with a well-known name. Generally good opportunities for career growth and professional development.

      Cons

      Frequently changing (and sometimes confused) management priorities. Culture of over-commitment leads to burnout. Heavy-handed HR.
