Thank you for your feedback. We have such great staff working in our partner classrooms in public schools across New England! Please share your thoughts with your supervisor so we can improve communication between our Southborough programs and distance staff. We want you to be successful and professionally growing, too!

Pros

I actually think the salary on the intensive treatment team was decent for the field. Full time hours are guaranteed (tons of overtime too if you want it). The time off is okay— 5 weeks of vacation and 5 sick days, although you have to schedule your vacation at the start of the year (weeks just get assigned to people) and it mostly gets used as sick time anyway.

Cons

Everyone is burnt out and stuck because they are on a H1B visa and/or committed to a Master’s program with tuition assistance they’d have to pay back if they left. The ABA used is incredibly old school DTT, with very little incidental teaching/NET. Teaching was not made enjoyable for staff or students. Reading books or doing activities was barely encouraged/supported. There is very little ABA training provided to staff (most of the training is NECC policies/procedures), which leads to poor decision making from inexperienced staff. Physical intervention is jumped to way too quickly. There are tons of data integrity issues (goes back to training and understanding fundamentals), not only in the clinical day-to-day but also in the research. When you’re an effective employee, you just get the more challenging students and programs more often.

We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on our programs and are grateful for your contributions despite your short tenure. The work our teachers and direct care staff do is no doubt challenging, but also the only evidence-based method for helping children with profound needs. It does take time, education, and training to fully understand and appreciate the job (and see results). We wish you luck in your next career.
