Pros

You are surrounded by amazing news, from political scandal, tragedy and triumph, to major breaking news and a number of major news markets. And the chances of national news having a NJ connection are very high.

Cons

The company was hemorrhaging money, and there was little to no internal advancement. Stories were focused on clicks, and editors played favorites.

Sad demise of a great newspaper

Pros

At one time a place of dedicated hard working people. There was a bonus, really good vacation time for long time employees, great benefits, pension, matching 401k.

Cons

Almost all of that is gone now. Done in by a lack of forward thinking. Many ideas were proposed but little was implemented until it was too late and too many good people walked or were pushed out the door.
