Pros

Great mission, effective and best practice programs that really do save lives, filled with some kind hearted and passionate individuals Who are FULL of skill and talent.

Cons

Executive leadership is not reflective of the diversity amongst the young people Trevor serves. They are also in a very corporate state of mind, which is how they run the organization. Not at all close to the actual work that is done to achieve the mission, just focused on those who get the org money. Very little room for growth.

Pros

The mission is a great one.

Cons

The ED lacks vision, compassion, and probably a soul. It's not true that "people who can't get with a fast-growing company can't make it here." Actually people who are succeeding at growing their department at The Trevor Project are treated poorly, while people who don't achieve at all but are silent about issues that matter, and people with long track records of poor treatment of minorities, women, and people of color are rewarded. See point #1.

A disappointing turn...

Pros

The Trevor Project has an amazing and important mission. However, it does not deliver. Contrary to what others said while I worked their, Trevor's salaries were comparable to other organizations. However, the insistence on placing employees in New York City -- where cost of living is much higher -- who do not need to be there creates a weird imbalance.

Cons

The management of the organization is in total disarray. Few people are held accountable. Outreach and education programs are ignored, while money is raised touting those programs. Mid- and low-level employees spend a lot of time spinning their wheels, designing policies that will never be implemented. The outward face of the organization -- especially in social media -- seems to only focus on very few issues, usually because of the pet causes of the staff member in charge. There are few opportunities for advancement and the organization makes absolutely no investment in professional development. But by far, the worst problem in the organization is the leadership. The Executive Director seems to have no vision, no passion and no empathy.
