I LOVE the industry. I believe in it! I just wish the Vitamin Shoppe felt the same. Their behaviors do not support this.

Cons

Managers are not supported by corporate. They are not enabled to succeed. They are not enabled to discipline their employees as necessary. They are made powerless.

The only reason to work here is for the discount, thats it. Other than that you make VS a ton of money and get nothing in return.

Cons

The pay is absolutely demeaning and they think it is something to brag about. Offering a store manager 35k to run a 1.5 mil store is funny.

Pros

Employee discount is 25% which is nice if you actually take some of the products. The job is quite easy and they really do encourage you to enhance your knowledge of the products and industry as a whole.

Cons

The pay is lousy, you have to deal with difficult customers on a routine basis and you work with people that are either uneducated, unmotivated, fairly stupid or some combination of all three. The corporate headquarters claims to take good care of its employees, but the reality is far from that. They will say that there is a lot of potential for upward movement within the company but actually getting promoted, even when qualified, seems to be impossible. They expect much out of their employees, but give little in return.
