Lukewarm Leadership

Pros

- The building is nice and a large step up from the previous office. - Effort to create a fun environment - Autonomy to take on ad-hoc passion projects - It's really easy to not work that hard (pro/con) - Great entry point for young creatives

Cons

The higher you look up the chain, the more you realize that leadership is built on friendships and brown-nosing instead of what they actually bring to the company and the people they manage. The majority in these positions haven't held leadership positions prior to Thesis, and as a result, are molded into the same thing that hasn't worked for years. Due to their inexperience, they view everything as a threat and react with gaslighting and immaturity. It's easier to keep their teams in line when they believe they aren't worth much and can't question things, rather than to explore how to grow them into higher positions that would outpace them. When outside talent is brought in and threatens the ego or confidence of the current leadership, they are let go for various reasons. There's not a lot to look forward to in terms of growing your career unless you plan to acclimate to the lukewarm leadership in place. So while the company seems exciting and appealing to those early in their creative careers, the long-tenured talent sees through it and realizes the only option to grow is to leave and seek a company looking to actually grow and question themselves. The President of the company seems to actually care about her employees and how they view the company. It's just a shame that her leadership team doesn't carry that same passion for the people they work with and instead are more focused on how to advance their own careers at the expense of the people they need to step on to get there.

Pros

If you’re young and looking to get into the thick of it with a decent roster of client roster, Thesis is a meh agency to cut your teeth. They have a well-packaged offering for production design and for email campaigns.

Cons

Not a good fit for experienced talent. Overall, you’ll get to work with some pretty insecure leadership who can’t settle into what they’re best at as an agency. There is virtually no business development. Many of the middle management have barely worked anywhere else and will not take kindly to your experience if it threatens their own (ego). So - there’s no room for growth in management from within. They’ll hire from the outside. Probably because the outsider isn’t aware of the Kult-like leadership.
