The perfect first job

Pros

- The people are awesome - some of the best coworkers I've ever had. - The benefits are pretty good, including unlimited sick days, study support (IIRC, 50% after 1 year and 100% up to $1200 after 2 years), option to work in other international offices, great office space, dinner stipend if you're in the office late - Huge potential to learn about your client type (hedge funds, PE firms, credit funds, consultancies) which (if you're interested) can help with future career prospects All in all, I loved my time at Third Bridge, and when it was time to go I found nothing but support among my peers and managers. I learned so much, not only about our work but about myself and what I want to do next. I can't think of a better first job than this - especially if, like me, you just graduated and honestly don't know what you want to do with your life.

Cons

- The majority of the workforce (aside from senior leadership) is between 22-26 and most people start fresh out of college, which can make for an immature environment - The hours can be demanding, and employees are encouraged to respond to client requests in off hours. Maybe 2 days a week, I would work until 10pm or later despite being "off the clock" - and no overtime pay - This changed in the time I was there, but given the insane growth of the company, management makes more decisions without any heads up or input from the employees - This is the nature of the industry, but the bonus/incentive structure can feel unfair at times. New project managers are given smaller clients, who use the service less, and require more work for a smaller bonus. - There are new diversity & inclusion initiatives which is great, but the NY office is still pretty homogenous (white, straight, young). - This is NOT the job for an introvert. You are constantly reaching out to strangers and I've seen too many people fail because they were too conscious of this.
