The cuisine and the staff

Cons

Everything else. No work/ life balance. No support from corporate office. Boys Club mentality at home office. Lots of gossip. New VP hired every month for corporate positions that fail to support operations. Managers over worked. Massive turnover up and down ladder. Payroll issue constantly. No training. Unrealistic expectations. Inept HR department.

Pros

Sometimes, I got to take a day off after a 6 day workweek, and once in a while, people are pleasantly surprised by food that arrives in under an hour

Cons

Well where do I start? I was hired on at Hen Quarter as a FOH manager after being sold all these amazing promises but I soon realized it was a massive dumpster fire on my first day. The business from the CEO (Warren Thompson) on down to the President of Pheast, the DO and the Marketing “team” to the various GMs themselves embodied an air of internal politics, favoritism, incompetence, and knee jerk reactions all through my year there. The marketing department was slipshod and disorganized to the point where the CMOs personal voicemails and family drama were somehow mixed in together with the music selection to be played during dinner service. A host of issues like managers and DOs carrying on affairs with the staff while the restaurant was losing employees left and right, hiring incompetent and narrow minded marketing managers who turn on you at the flip of a switch and then try to run your event, telling new managers that “they will work for whatever I decide to pay them” all screams a hostile work environment that they have publicly attempted to renounce as a minority run company. Please do not work here - it is a revolving door of good people being turned negative and a working climate that will show the worst in people you would have never imagined. The obsession with Yelp reviews, the constant hiring and firing of managers, in addition to private free parties hosted by Mr. Thompson himself all contribute to one of the worst “fine dining” establishments on King Street. Run as fast and far as you can, because the company (and by definition Thompson Hospitality) embodies none of the values they profess to uphold.
