Toxic Culture

There is nothing good about this company.

Cons

Toxic culture from corporate leadership. Lots of finger pointing, throwing others under the bus and a CYA culture amongst senior leadership. Zero support from the disorganized and lazy corporate office. Selective accountability with consequences for some but not others for the same issues. Bonuses not paid on time or sometimes not at all. Very shady accounting practices with P&Ls - almost like they are laundering profits from the foodservice side of the company through the restaurants. They will lie and say anything it takes to recruit someone and then deny ever having said it. You'd be better off living on the street in a cardboard box than taking a job with this company.

Awful and Selfish Company

Executives appear primarily focused on maximizing profits, often prioritizing their own financial gains over operational sustainability. They frequently acquire businesses only to implement cost-cutting measures such as reducing inventory budgets and compromising food quality, while significantly raising menu prices. Additionally, they require employees to use a third-party service (Wisely) to access their wages instead of offering standard direct deposit options. Underperforming managers are not terminated to avoid unemployment costs; instead, they are transferred to other locations, perpetuating poor performance and contributing to the company's overall struggles. Moreover, uniform requirements are frequently updated, approximately every three months, without financial assistance, forcing employees, who earn less than $100 per shift, to bear the cost of compliance. Also, a minor coworker of mine was verbally abused by our 40-year-old manager, who screamed and cursed at her. When she began to cry, the manager continued to berate her, demanding to know what the hell was wrong with her. Despite this unacceptable behavior, Thompson took no disciplinary action against the manager, and he remains employed with the company. Lastly, I had a male coworker double my age threaten to severely and violently physically harm me, yet I received no response or acknowledgment from the executives at Thompson. The incidents I mentioned above have all occurred within the last three to four months, despite my nearly two years of employment with Thompson. In conclusion, do not work for this company even if you’re desperate for employment. They do not care for the wellbeing of their employees nor their customers for that matter.
