Pros

- Culture: this is truly an incredible place where everyone is nice, smart, and fun. I learn so much every day here and hang out with many coworkers outside of work because they’re that great - Big Impact: company is at a great size right now where you can work on big features that could have a huge impact on the app’s millions of users. Very bottom ups approach here on pitching ideas - Benefits: the events organized for the company are amazing. There’s one almost every week and a company summer/holiday parties are insane. Free lunch/dinner and snacks, basketball court, ping pong tables, fitness classes, hella swag, etc

Cons

- Orientation could be more comprehensive: company is still getting more organized and structured so there wasn’t much documentation to help me get situated on my team when I started. The company goes fast. Basically had to rely on talking to various people to figure out how to do things at the company but this forced me to put myself out there more.

Hi there - thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. Culture is something that we are actively working on every day to make great and we are so glad you feel this way about Tinder's culture. We are also happy you notice and take advantage of the big impact/opportunities available to our employees. Thank you for letting us know where we can improve upon in regards to orientation - this is something we are looking to revamp in the near future and will hopefully enhance the overall new hire/employee experience.

Pros

- Tinder's at a sweet spot where its user base is big enough that anything you work on reaches a lot of people, but the company is small and young enough that every person has the opportunity to work on meaningful problems. - The people are all really cool, down-to-earth, and smart. - Huge opportunity for career growth for those who are hungry. - The West Hollywood location is super unique and within walking distance to tons of bars and restaurants. - There are a ton of engineering challenges to solve because the original app was written hastily. - The caliber of engineers has gone way up in the last year. - The leadership team is focused on listening to the team and fixing issues that need to be fixed. I think this could be done more proactively, but at least it's happening.

Cons

Not enough focus on our mission and taking the product to the next level. Many people in the team are disconnected from how the product really works and who our users are. This is somewhat natural because so many people are in relationships or married, but we should do more to help with this. I wish there were more opportunities to connect with people from across the company and offices (WH and PA). 200 is still a pretty small company and all of the teams are really cool, so more mixing of people and ideas would be great. The pay is relatively competitive and better than many companies, but if you're at the top of your industry you'll probably get better offers elsewhere.

Thank you so much for taking to time to provide your feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that you are enjoying working at Tinder. We are glad you've noticed that our leadership team is deeply committed to listening to feedback from employees and addressing issues that need attention. We will continue to look for more opportunities to help connect employees across offices and group companies. We certainly agree that this important and will generate a lot of value. Thanks again for taking the time to share.

Pros

- A supportive and fun team at the IC level, including some middle managers who genuinely care about their employees - benefits are decent compared to similar companies

Cons

- Company has gone downhill due to poor senior leadership who’ve turned a once fun place to work into a toxic political environment where teams and individuals are pitted against one another - Innovative ideas keep getting shot down or severely constrained by leaders out of fear but with an activist investment firm coming in and now demanding innovation, leaders have been quick to place the blame for lack of innovation on those below in order to protect themselves - there is a growing lack of diversity at the senior leadership level that is now trickling down to teams due to leaders hiring from their own pool of candidates, rather than sourcing diverse talent in the broader market that can bring differing perspectives to the company
