      At the moment, compensation here is okay in compare with other companies

      - Stay away from the fintech department at all cost or Toast overall if you can - There are many low-level managers who have no idea what they are doing - Getting a promotion is extremely hard - To get noticed or advance, you must show off and lie even if you did nothing - Discrimination is visible everywhere despite claims of fighting it - HR & People Success are not your friend; never ever trust them - Senior leadership shows no respect for employees - Do not speak up; They will use it against yourself - You must be political, dishonest, and wear a mask to survive - Everyone only cares about their own career growth and there are many two-faced people here - People who only talk, with no knowledge, no code, and no real contribution are the ones who advance here

      Great company with great culture but depends on department

      ° Flexibility in WFH ° One of the best health insurance plans ° 400 euro bi-annual voucher to spend on home office / amenities ° 1050 euro education stipend ° 900 home office stipend which has been deprecated as of May 2024 and has been replaced by the 400 euro bi-annual voucher ° Often breakfast / lunch from various customer restaurants of Toast in Dublin ° Often team events ° Often volunteering opportunities with Toast.org ° Very nice volunteering program where each employe receives 25 euro to donate to a selected charity through Toast.org ° 4 weeks sabbatical after 5 years of service ° In office snacks / coffee / drinks - (alcohol and soft) ° Rich parental leave program ° All the other standard benefits - Tax Save / Bike To Work

      Cons

      Toast's unlimited PTO is a tale. When I started it was promoted to be unlimited, however that quickly changed to be flexible. Toast gives 20 days statuary PTO which is a rolling balance and any days in excess of that is upon managers discretion. Non-production environment is a nightmare, often non-functional due to much freedom to release breaking changes. It has often caused days of delays trying to figure out why preproduction is unstable and non-functional, causing to high levels of frustrations and low morale in the team. Some technical decision are questionable and non-logical, one of them being DynamoDB is trying to be pushed for everything. Launchardkly is being used a feature flag across Toast even for non-product features which makes absolutely no sense. One downside of Dublin that directors especially in Fintech try to promote a culture of zero outages / accidents which leads to engineers being reluctant to declare an incident which isn't the case in the US counterparts.
