Pros

Not only is there unlimited opportunity/commission, but there’s unlimited personal development. The leaders constantly are challenging me to think with principles, think big for my goals, and giving me resources to achieve those goals. The people I get to serve for my clients are to top division makers, influencers, and income earners in Austin and I’m honored that they trust us to serve them.

Cons

Building a business requires thinking big, thinking strategically, and getting out of my comfort zone. As with any business, the better you do the more problems you face and are challenges to solve.

Pros

good training, the Atl office is the biggest, cool people, good stock

Cons

Sales, so you will work like a dog if you want to do well. You will be micromanaged like crazy and trauma-bond with your fellow coworkers. They will tell you how rich you can be here, but don't tell you the reality of the commission structure or how the people who are rich here are mainly rich through the stock. In which you have to stay for a LONG time for the stock to be worth it. If you want to do sales, the training is good, but the type of sales is too niche; no one really cares about what you're selling.

As a company that really strives to build and develop people, we are sorry to hear you had a negative experience. Our opportunity, which is more entrepreneurial in nature than most, does have its share of hard work and long hours at certain times and seasons, especially when starting out. We realize it takes time, a lot of hard work, grit and determination to build your own business. Tom James is dedicated to providing training, coaching, technology platforms, 1-1 meetings, lucrative monthly bonuses and a positive culture in order to empower our Sales Professionals to be successful. Our number one goal is building people. Thank you again for your review!

Pros

You get two months of training. You meet a lot of people your own age, (20's) which can be great if you moved to a new city. You do learn decent sales skills that you'll take with you to your next job. You can ride with multiple different sales reps to get different perspectives and sales techniques. The company trips are nice

Cons

It feels like a massive pyramid scheme. They basically hire people on, knowing most will quit, then their sales leader just takes all the clients. They expect you to make 120 calls a day in 2 hours, then spend the rest of the day chasing people on the streets and bothering people at their office. I saw 18 different people leave within less than a year. And I after I left, I know at least 8 more than quit too. Even the most motivated people, who did the calls and the work, quit within a year. They tell you you can easily make 100 k a year but it happens to basically no one. And the ones who do reach the goals, are miserable and run around all day like a chicken with their heads cut off. They use phrases like "money making activity", which means they shame you for doing things like alterations or putting in orders during 7am - 5:30 pm since those aren't "money making". They will tell you stories of reps sleeping at the office because they didn't book enough appointments as if that's normal. Or slyly shame you for not being there from 6 am - 6:30 pm. Or tell you that you're not thinking like a 'business owner' if you leave at 5. Some of the leadership genuinely care, but some of them only care if you're doing well. I've seen people get ignored if their sales weren't on par. There are some good people at the company, but not enough to make it worth it. They can also get super involved in your personal life. One of the sales leaders has made extremely intrusive and honestly gross comments, mostly to the women. Oh side note, they push random religious jargon, which isn't a problem for many, but I found it odd. There is no one I know who wishes they stayed at Tom James or regrets leaving. It's not impossible to be successful there, but honestly not worth all the BS. You can find a much better company
