Pros

The RBTs and BCBAs truly care about their clients' outcomes. The people are friendly and flexible. The teamwork is strong despite the barriers.

Cons

This may not be the case at some centers, as there are multiple locations, but this was my experience. There are significant barriers that impact service delivery and maintaining a clean, safe environment. There is no structure or organization and as an RBT you will spend most of your time trying to find materials and supplies. RBTs are left to their own devices, as there is often not a BCBA present while clients are receiving services and upper management does not consider this a problem. The BCBAs clearly try their best to support but they are stretched very thin. Expectations are not standard for all employees and they change once met while others are promoted based on their compliance with unethical, generic programming that actively punishes clients. There is clear favoritism toward employees with seniority vs staff who are newer. Upper management is more concerned with aesthetics than actual leadership. There is a focus on trauma-informed care while ignoring the problems actively causing trauma across clients and staff due to filthy and unsafe environmental conditions while providing services for a vulnerable population. The 20 hours billable goal for BCBAs is enticing, but you will struggle to meet this requirement due to the bulk of the administrative demands of HR and scheduling, despite there being teams to handle these matters. If you like paperwork and high school politics you'll be fine but if you care about your clients' outcomes and your RBTs' growth, safety, and happiness you will not find that here. Clients and staff cannot thrive where they are simply trying to survive.

Pros

- Loved working with clients and young children - Enjoyed working with some other BTs on a few different teams! -Good experience for if you have never practiced ABA and first time working with autism diagnosis.

Cons

- I worked in Michigan. My supervisor never responded to emails, or when I have asked her questions pertaining to the client she would never give proper feedback. - I initially asked for full time hours and I only received an average of 10 hours a week. - I was lied to about company policies, regarding staying on a team and being switched off. - I conducted my sessions with professionalism and input techniques from outside feedback. However, was switched off of 2 different cases without it being communicated to me or legitimate explanation. I was informed through clients parents about another tech taking over my sessions. No explanation from supervision or higher ups. - Lacked stable hours. They will want you to drive far without pay for mileage. You will only receive a few cents per mile that goes over 30 miles. Any mileage under 30 you won’t receive pay. - The Ann Arbor clinic lacked supportive atmosphere. When trying to gain clarity on situations, the responses were passive as if they didn’t care to answer. Poor/Nasty attitudes and lacked professionalism. - I am leaving due to lack of stability, communication, and professionalism. They have only given me 2 hours a week at this point which is crazy. 2 hours!

Pros

In-depth training Loved working with the families They pay for your RBT certification Supervisors (BCBA's) will usually have your back when dealing with the central office

Cons

I personally had an awful experience with the corporate office. Because therapists provide remote therapy, the office and the scheduling team was extremely disconnected from the actual work that was being done. They were very strict and would write you up for minor things. They also claimed to be flexible with scheduling, but if you worked less than what they wanted you to, you would be disliked by the scheduling team. The scheduling team had clear favorites and it was usually people that were able to pick up extra shifts and work more hours.
