Failing Fast

Pros

I met some hardworking and talented people here. They were treated like garbage by the company, as we all were, but I suppose I would never have met them if it weren't for TSI.

Cons

Leadership preaches a "people first" approach and then turns around and prioritizes glitchy algorithms over human labor. When I started as a content writer, it was a point of pride that we didn't reuse content for different clients, that each website was uniquely created for the small business owners we represented. Then they stopped editing our work and just ran it through Grammarly. Then they started using ChatGPT's idiot cousin to churn out slop in the hopes that the clients wouldn't be able to tell the difference. In the past seven years, TSI has chipped away at the "people" part of the company in order to cut costs and, I guess, fail faster. That's on the wall of the office when you walk in: FAIL FAST. The idea is that if you make big moves and leap headfirst into your bold new ideas, you will learn fast and succeed via trial and error. Townsquare Interactive is failing. Not as fast as I'd like, but failing nonetheless. Every move they make to retain clients and disrespect employees just makes them seem more desperate. Clients do not get quality web content, and employees get belittled and crushed down into the mud. I spent five years of my life here and I wish to God I could get them back. This company does not care about hard work, creativity, quality or people. It is a blight to the good city of Charlotte and I look forward to its final dying gasp.

Pros

The loyalty I feel to this company and the people I work with runs deep — it's rare to find a workplace that feels like both a professional home and a community. I feel fortunate to have a great work/life balance and feel supported both personally and professionally. That trust and support has allowed me to grow my career in ways that align with my strengths, passions, and long-term goals.

Cons

Like any company, there are always areas for growth. Competitive pay will always be important to retain top talent. There have been many changes on the service side, which can create some tension, but with change comes opportunity and I think we're moving in the right direction.

Caution!

Pros

This is only good if you’re new to sales and treat this as a building block for your career There’s a very small pocket of truly genuine people that can help you and propel you. Finding them is like prospecting, you’ll spend a lot of time and energy and will face lots of disappointment.

Cons

Where do I start. It’s very much like a fraternity/sorority. The youth of the floor is the downfall. It’s a cesspool of rumors and unprofessional talk (for no good reason but amusement and immaturity). Management is extremely conspicuous and incredibly manipulative. It’s a cycle of changes that warp your ability to succeed and actually progress. You’re told to work through it with no real stability or support unless you threaten to quit It’s SUPER inappropriate when it comes to females, especially out of the office activities The floor is only beneficial to those that hoard a bunch of leads and spy on other reps while on calls. There’s even instances where if your computer is out, someone will try to look and spy for information You’ll get lured into a false sense of security”staying” which is really just justification for other people including management that is deeply unhappy The culture is like a locker room that’s only built on money you make and how much money you have. Yet it’s disguised as “family”. But it’s like the family from shameless 😂 Also the insurance/benefits is laughable and the company is obviously downsizing especially when it comes to the product

We are disappointed to hear you feel this way about your time with TSI. We fully understand how difficult sales can be, and sometimes is not always the best fit for everyone. We strongly believe that everyone here is capable of doing the job, and always push to make people that much better.
