Pros

The trading industry is challenging and fun to work. Tradestation provides an opportunity to work in the industry without a lot of barriers to entry.

Cons

The organizational structure is broken with people being promoted to positions without any competency for that role. The software and system is antiquated and fragile and frequenty has issues causing mass panic among management. The benefits are almost non-existent and there is no sense of appreciation for the employee by management as they are treated as widgets in an Agile system. The Agile methodoligy used is broken and not implemented in a way that is constructive which causes confusion and loss of productivity. Real incentives are only given to top management while everyone else is given minimal raises if any and stock that vests over long periods of time. New owner, Monex, cannot decide what they want to do, so company is directionless.

Pros

It's very engineer centric with very little bureaucracy to get in the way of developing software. The agile UI teams are great to be on if you like that. The backend teams are great for intense work on platforms.

Cons

The benefits are not up to par with the rest of the industry. Only 2 weeks vacation, and only the employee health insurance is paid in full.

Pros

Can keep track of your stocks easily. :) Opportunity to provide ideas or alternatives. Very understanding when requiring time off. Nice people.

Cons

Management communication with the peons is sporadic Company sometimes seems as if it's just floating around with no direction Were just bought out by another company and several people are searching for new opportunities (whether warranted or not) Training for new employees is almost non-existent. This means most people take months to learn what could be told/taught in a matter of days to weeks. No clear path for promotions from what I could tell.
