Pros

Other employees (at both locations I worked at), including management, were friendly and fun to work with. Management was generally receptive to new ideas and questions. The company definitely cares about its employees more than other places I've worked

Cons

It's always a tiring day and didn't have as much flexibility with hours as I would have liked. There were disparities in the competency and leadership ability of different managers. The number of managers sometimes made it feel like there were too many cooks in the kitchen.

Pros

First and foremost its' a job and lets face it, Portland lacks jobs. Yes, we get benifits and 10% off items in the store. Yes we can request time off with no hassles. It is a relatively easy place to work and the hourly pay is pretty good if you actually get hours.

Cons

Overstaffed store where everyone walks on thin ice avoiding any slip-ups which would result in their hours being cut. Management (mainly the captain) is all smiles and bubbly when the camera is on but behind the scenes she is responsible for all the unhappiness in the store. Favoritism is amazingly obvious. Its not all hugs and cheers for everyone, you gotta be in the "circle".

Pros

-Monthly tastings to become more aware of store product -Managers are always around to notice when you need help and to praise for a job well done -Variety of responsibilities -Pay increase every six months

Cons

-Employees are given a lot of freedom, which is often abused -VERY physical job, not necessarily difficult in that sense, but your body feels it after a few months -Crew clashes a lot due to different personalities, there is not a "typical" Trader Joe's employee -Customers can be SO catty when it comes to their food (especially if it is out of stock) which leads me to my next one... -Product goes out of stock OFTEN, and sometimes Discontinued. Not good when a customer hears this news...
