Pros

Trader Joe's is truly a unique company. If you're willing to put up with the physicality of it all and the long hours as a supervisor, it will reward you in spades. You'll develop strong management and customer service skills, while, for the most part, having a good time. The people who are the most successful are the people who are already customers and think it would be a great place to work as well.

Cons

As a supervisor, you are scheduled a minimum of 50 hours, so be ready for that. There is a lot of burn out due to all the repetitive lifting, and stocking. Also, be ready to give up your weekends, but that's part of retail.

Pros

Great pay and benefits for retail. There is an excellent retirement plan. It can be very fun, although, it had better be fun, or heads will roll!

Cons

Incredibly demanding physically and demanding of your time and energy. The job is still changing and the skills that made a successful manager several years ago are less important now.

Pros

Co-workers are the best, very casual. It's great to have full benefits and still work 3-4 days per week. Regular reviews often with pay raises (if you get a good productive store and captain). Flexible schedule fits w/ schooling.

Cons

Stockroom is so full that it makes you lift boxes unsafely, and this is likely not to change. There are many repetitive injuries and slipped disks, especially among full timers. There's a lot of lip service regarding safety that turns into puns in the weekly bulletin. Effective communication is an uphill battle, and real problem-solving skills are hard to find. Forget having weekends off consistently- many people (esp full timers) have to "turnaround" (close, then open next morn).
