Pros
-Employees who are generally your peers in interests, age, ambitions, and politics. If you’re an endurance athlete, there are still athletes remaining there which makes for a great environment—even though the number is dwindling. -Work in a passion industry. If you’re into endurance sports hearing how useful the product is for athletes and coaches makes you feel good and highly rewarded. -Sales are fairly easy and straightforward. The cycle is short and fast, and you interact with a large and diverse clientele.
Cons
- Turnover. This company has lost probably 70% of its workforce during the pandemic. It is unrecognizable from what it was 2+ years ago when I started. -Management? I think this comes down to the CEO and executives, not necessarily middle management. Main agenda from new CEO has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and has created a lot of instability with middle management. This in turn frustrates employees, stymies progress, and is a big reason for the alarming turnover this company is enduring. -Benefits. In my two years there, “perks” were reduced, my pay was cut/restructured, and bonuses slashed. In the grand scheme of software sales take-home pay, TrainingPeaks ranks very poorly. It was a good stepping stone for me personally, but not professionally. -Stagnation. TrainingPeaks has rested on its laurels for several years. They have promised groundbreaking technology internally but after years of delays nothing has happened and questions about its viability have made a lot of current and former employees uncomfortable. A half-baked attempt to grow in international markets was frustrating.
