The absolute worse place I have ever worked in my lifetime

Pros

I don't believe there are any.

Cons

Where do I start? Very poor leadership. A mecca of nepotism. If you are not in the "in crowd" forget it. Also, each department is run by a salesperson. Most of the leaders came from the sales desk, which before and after they become a leader the sale desk person is treated awful...and once they get off the desk they forget where they came from. No training for management - so there is a huge liability for the company.

Pros

Not a lot comes to mind. Pay rate is average or slightly below comparable in the industry. Cedar Rapids is a pleasant town, but not terribly interesting place to live. Pension plan is an excellent perk and main reason I stayed around as long as I did.

Cons

Too many decisions are made with blinders on ignoring glaring issues and long-term consequences. A quick victory and cost savings overrides common sense. Lots of money and resources wasted cleaning up the messes from this short sided thinking. General attitude that drifts down from upper management is you should keep quiet and be happy you have a job as we could outsource your position to CSC in India. Lots of catch phrases are tossed about ad naseum about inclusion and openness, but process improvement ideas that reflect poorly on previous decisions are squashed and almost a guaranteed career killer. This goes doubly if you are newer to organization and resistant to the status-quo mindset. Promotions are largely based on knowing the right person and willingness to compromise your integrity to help advance that persons career/agenda. Consistently pushing talented IT people out the door so more work can outsourced which has in-term has caused even more of top IT talent to walk away.
