Pros

The company offers a pension plan. If you enjoy being micromanaged every minute of the day - this is the company for you.

Cons

Upper management is oblivious to processing challenges. They have stuck their head in the sand when it comes to making real culture change. They play lip service to work life balance but do not support it. The constant request for 'extra efforts' is the constant solution to larger and larger workloads. Employees leave and are not replaced - the motto 'do more with less' could not be more accurate to describe the culture. Exempt employees are not treated as such, they are micro-managed, schedules are micro-managed - no flexibility in schedule. The company reaps the benefits of the salaried employees with no benefit to the employee. Overtime is demanded week after week, month after month with no flexibility in schedule to benefit the employee. Regardless of extra time worked, if a salaried employee has an appointment - management wants to know when time will be made up.

Along with a pension plan we offer a variety of options for our employees to choose benefits that work best for them. One of the areas of our future fit mindset is accountability, not only holding ourselves accountable but also holding our coworkers, employees and others around us accountable. This helps ensure we are serving our customers to the best of our abilities. Thanks for the feedback!

Pros

After a year or two, the possibility exists to work remotely. There once were company events such as golf outings, holiday get-togethers and picnics, i.e. Oktoberfest, No more. A company reward consists of a cold cut luncheon.

Cons

Transamerica has instituted a Future Fit policy which is nothing more than "Save Money at the expense of Employees" policy. This is another year in a series of year in which salaries were not increased and bonuses not handed out. Promotions are non-existent and the work load has increased to the point where 60 hour weeks are typical. Morale is low, however company expectations are very high. If you are in the market for a fulfilling and rewarding career, you can do much better elsewhere. Do yourself a favor. Skip Transamerica.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. We do have company events that go on at various locations such as a golf outings, employee appreciation days, children’s holiday party, to name a few. I’m glad you mentioned Future Fit. Future Fit is a new mindset – Acting As One, being Agile, Accountable, and Customer Centric. This is how we as an organization want to be at the center of everything we do. It is not necessarily about saving money, but improving our ability to serve our customers while keeping pace in a fast changing industry.

Poor leadership and terrible culture

Pros

The downtown Denver office is beautiful, and it's in a great location. The benefits are pretty standard; however they do pay for an RTD pass.

Cons

Throughout my time at Transamerica there were numerous layoffs and several reorganization attempts that took a very long time to implement. The result was a disaster... at least from a corporate culture perspective, although I'm sure it helped the profit margins. In addition, everyone feared they were next, which contributed to the negative feel within the organization. In addition to the layoffs, Transamerica demoted everyone's title across the board, so VP's became Directors, Directors became Senior Managers, etc. This is not a company that has anything in mind other than their bottom line, the culture is standoffish and unfriendly and the leadership is poor at best.

We understand that change can be difficult, especially for the employees who may be affected in different ways. We try to implement plans that take all those affected into consideration and execute the plan as quickly as possible. However, some changes are quicker and easier to implement than others. With the insurance industry and customer expectations continually evolving, we too, need to be agile. In today’s business environment, change can seem to be constant; but with change comes opportunity. I am happy you mentioned the downtown Denver office. The view from the 52nd floor is one of the best in town! Appreciate the feedback.
