Experience working with youth with a variety of mental health issues.

Cons

Having to do physical restraints. Basically nobody has any idea what is going on at any moment in time. Your skills trainer supervisor has only been there like 2 months more than you. The higher ups are never on the floor and borderline zero communication is had between them and the floor staff.

Pros

The work is very rewarding, it is amazing to see your actions help improve the lives of others! The community is amazing, you work with some of the most compassionate and supportive people you will ever meet. Additionally, the work is very fun; this is one of the few jobs where you can get paid to play around. It is also one of the few opportunities where you can get experience in psychology without a graduate degree. Depending on the position, they offer some very flexible hours too! The health insurance is fantastic, and the retirement match is 6%!

Cons

When it is tough, it's tough. The risk of personal injury is high. I don't know anyone that has worked on the floor of a TFS facility for more than a year and hasn't gotten some sort of workplace injury. The clients can also say and do some of the worst things you will witness. Additionally, it can feel like the pay doesn't match the demands of the job.
