Pros

Working with the youth is fantastic. There are many opportunities to support kids and families during challenging times in their lives.

Cons

Trillium Parry Center (Portland Campus) has an un-changing and impermeable toxic culture amongst skills trainers and management. Valid concerns are often dismissed, ignored, or covered up. Mandatory reports made in good faith are both scolded and discouraged "because we live in a litigious society." If you are a new therapist seeking licensure, find another opportunity where management has more integrity. The work is very rewarding and possible, but you can't do it alone. There are many other residential treatment programs to consider if you're interested in this level of care. The toxic culture amongst co-workers and management is what ultimately caused my burnout.

Pros

promote from within, real opportunity to move up if you get along well with mgmt

Cons

management can be dismissive of staff concerns openly hostile to union discriminatory enforcement of rules--if you aren't a "problem" you get away with more. If you're perceived as a "nuisance" you get written up for things that can seem random
