Pros

Flexibility Independence Supportive team School based work is tough but rewarding Exposure to a wide variety of different clinical situations Access to a ton of resources Collaborations with a lot of different community supports/agencies Great healthcare

Cons

It's agency work, so despite being independent as a school-based therapist there are sometimes extra trainings or paperwork expectations that we have to do for insurance or accreditation requirements. You also have to speak up to make your voice heard if you have a thought/issue, but there are good people who do listen. They're trauma informed in relation to not only the clients, but the organization as a whole and try to leave pathways for information and communication to travel effectively.

A job with meaning.

Pros

Trillium accepts who you are. And we need all types of people to help the children and families we serve. Pretty good individual benefits, especially for a non-profit.

Cons

It can be draining. Doing your self-care is vital! It's expensive to add spouse and child to your health insurance.

Good place to work

Pros

When you have a good, consistent team the work is great. I enjoy spending time with the kids and seeing them grow and accept themselves more.

Cons

Low staffing, high stress. If there is a disconnect in your team it is overwhelming.
