High tech, with muddy boots

Pros

Trimble is a big tech company in disguise. At Trimble, you'll have a chance to work with all the hottest tech, but in the context of real, practical, world-relevant problems. The mission, the values, and the objectives are all so relevant; feeding the world (Agriculture), housing the world (Construction), and moving the world from place to place (Transportation).

Cons

Unlike many big tech companies, Trimble is organized on a General Manager model, with a fair bit of silo-ing between business units. This can make it hard to collaborate widely.

Lots of reorgs

Pros

Interesting work, always something new, respect for marketing/communications role

Cons

Lots of reorganizations - company-wide or division-wide. Sometimes 3-4 per year. Meaning, you could have 4 different supervisors in 1 year. that makes it difficult to demonstrate your value. And, it's hard to switch gears quickly from one business to another in just a day or two.

Pros

Great people and technology. A lot of innovation in most divisions.

Cons

Policies and processes between divisions are completely inconsistent and often incompatible.
