Pros

• There are some genuinely nice people working there. • No weekends or nights. (Customer service). • Regular events from the culture team. • Onboarding is very in depth. • Pay for Customer service is fair.

Cons

• Minimal pay increase for any progressional roles. • High Turnover. • Staff are overworked and are gaslit into believing it is normal. • Progression is tied to favouritism and nepotism. • If you are not in any of the various cliques, do not fit the hyper specific mould or are a follower of any member of upper management, there will be little opportunity. • Recognition is effectively worthless unless you are dedicated to the company. • Wastes the good talent they have while the terrible people remain in the higher positions. • Opportunities can be snatched from you at the last minute. • Will incorporate copious levels of doublethink. • Higher management are more interested in chasing the approval of head office at the behest of their own staff. • Service lead is incredibly unprofessional and at the time of employment, sent out various emails after receiving legitimate negative Glassdoor reviews. The tone of the emails was very accusatory towards staff and advised staff not to look for better opportunities as “The grass is not always greener” to encourage staff complacency. • KPI’s are unrealistic and the standards are constantly moving, creating a near impossible chase. • Culture is very much the pizza party instead of a raise environment. • Anonymous surveys are not anonymous.

Pros

Great job if you are a corporate bot with no personal boundaries. It is a good position if you a student just out of school or college and getting into employment. Supportive training team and office facility

Cons

Since its a Chinese company the level of control is boundless, there are only a few unpaid breaks per day (which you have to approve with your manager) and the job is crazy intense, some days you would have over 40 chats and half of them people spamming like mad and are angry. NO PERSONALITY, all you can do it find a protocol in the huge database and follow the script. You CAN NOT BE HUMAN and cannot even use smiles or emojis. Very early start as office working from 7-5 Crazy oversight, EVERYTHING YOU DO IS CONTROLLED, MEASURED & REVIEWED. Late 2 min from a break? Get ready to explain yourself to the manager before your next shift. There are unlimited amounts of "anonymous" surveys every week, that you cannot skip, and if you are honest - you'd most likely get in trouble. Career progression? Forget it unless you'd like to play this game with the rules above for at least 2-3 years. From all the work I did in my life this was one of the most frustrating and stressful ones.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the training team and office facilities supportive. We’re very sorry that your overall experience felt overly controlled and stressful. This is not the environment we aim to create. While structure, quality standards, and scheduling are important in a customer service role, they should be balanced with trust, flexibility, and respect for individual wellbeing. We take your concerns around monitoring, communication style, and workplace pressure seriously, and we are continuing to review how these are implemented to ensure a more supportive and human experience for our teams. If you’re open to sharing more detail, we welcome you to reach out confidentially at EMEA.feedback@trip.com. Your feedback is important in helping us improve.

Pros

There are positives - working alongside genuinely great colleagues, experiencing a culturally diverse office environment, and having clearly set working hours each week. Unfortunately, these aspects were overshadowed by a high-pressure culture that prioritises KPIs over people.

Cons

My experience at Trip.com Group was deeply disappointing due to the management culture and overall office environment. During recruitment and onboarding, the company presents itself as supportive and empathetic. In reality, this felt largely performative. Empathy was discussed openly, but rarely demonstrated in practice. Once KPIs became the focus, employees were treated more like numbers than individuals. Concern for wellbeing or mental health seemed conditional on whether performance targets were being met. The atmosphere on the office floor was tense and uncomfortable. Management expectations felt rigid, with an unrealistic pressure to perform perfectly at all times. Mistakes were not treated as learning opportunities but as failures. There was also a noticeable culture of favouritism, where certain individuals appeared to receive preferential treatment. At times, management behaviour felt inappropriate and unprofessional, which further eroded trust.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate you highlighting the positive aspects, particularly your colleagues and the diverse office environment. We’re very sorry to hear that the culture and management approach felt high-pressure and overly KPI-focused. While performance standards are important in our industry, they should never come at the expense of fairness, respect, or psychological safety. We are continuing to strengthen leadership accountability and ensure empathy is demonstrated in practice, not just communicated in principle. If you’re open to sharing more detail, please reach out confidentially at EMEA.feedback@trip.com.
