A traumatic stepping stone

Pros

They will hire you if you are in need of a job. TEI is always short staffed leading to good job security and lots of overtime. They have tuition reimbursement which helped me get a better job and leave this organization in my past. To EHS Consultants: None that I can think of.

Cons

In short, Triumvirate does not treat its employees with fairness. Equal work doesn’t result in similar pay/ advancement. TEI does not provide quality training to employees or advancement opportunities. To the Environmental Specialist: The Triumvirate business model is taking recent college grads and putting them in a role that does not utilize your college degree and pays a low wage (compared to your classmates). I started out making a lot less than my classmates with the same degree. The hours are LONG, and the work itself can be passionless. My managers were usually hard to get along with, and they mainly only promote employees that possess a blind loyalty to the organization and disregard for self-worth. There are unhealthy amounts of backstabbing among the group when something goes wrong. Also, I had to do a lot of leg work outside of work hours (online courses, certifications) to get enough resume meat to get a better job. Unfortunately, TEI didn’t compensate for the extra professional investment, so I had to go somewhere that did. EHS Consultants- They make you sign a “non-solicitation” agreement, making it extremely difficult to leave the organization. So when things go south, which they most likely will, you are stuck with no clear path out; it’s a terrible feeling. Most recruiters did not work with me because of the agreement. It’s not impossible to leave for a better job/pay, but it’s pretty tricky.

Triumvirate Environmental Response

Thank you for your 5+ years of service and I’m sorry to hear you are leaving with what you feel like is a “traumatic” experience- that is certainly the opposite of what we wish for our employees. While we value all feedback and often take it as a learning opportunity, we struggle doing so in this case. Yes, the hours as an Environmental Specialist can be long- we are explicit about this in the interview process. Currently, many of our Environmental Specialists are averaging around 45-55 hours/week with the Summer being our busiest season. The Environmental Specialist role is an extremely technical position which requires A LOT of training and a high level of know-how, emotional intelligence and customer service skills. Because of the nature of the role and the fact that our Environmental Specialists are the backbone of our business, we have put tireless amounts of time and effort into building a robust training offering and advancement program for our employees in the position. In addition to that, our tuition reimbursement program is an offering available to anyone who has been with the company for at least 6 months- which it seems you also benefited from. All of these things combined with a strong management team, provide our employees with the tools needed to grow and excel in their careers here. Please reach out to the HR team directly to discuss your mention of inequity and “backstabbing.” Neither of those is tolerated at Triumvirate and any accusations of such must be immediately investigated. Thank you.
