Pros

chance for quick rising through the ranks as all of the mass layoffs and employees quitting are leaving large numbers of positions to be filled.

Cons

Between the mass layoffs, the harsh treatment of represented employees, the gutting of profit sharing and the return to office mandate, employee morale has plunged. It is a much less friendly workplace

Pros

Remote work, and the work/life balance is good

Cons

Apologies to those who read this lengthy review. I assume most are brought here by looking for jobs, as I doubt the company will actually read this and take it to heart. This was written from an IT/Business-area viewpoint. This company was once a fantastic place to work, and it’s disappointing to see the direction it has taken. There was a time when I would enthusiastically recommend this place to friends, speaking highly of the work environment and culture. I was genuinely proud to be part of it. As other reviews have mentioned, the CEO had switched over, and that's when the "money savings" really kicked into high gear. While the company publicly emphasizes a commitment to delivering excellent products and valuing customers—and that remains true—it has increasingly come at the expense of the people responsible for creating those products. If were a customer, I would be concerned that the company was suffering this much behind the scenes. It's worth noting that many employees have been with the company for decades—their entire working life—in some cases 40+ years, which speaks volumes about how well the company once treated its workforce. I understand most people today could not comprehend staying with a company that long. But—it just goes to show how great to their staff they used to be. In an effort to cut costs in the name of saving money, long-term employees have been let go and replaced with lower-cost new hires. From a purely financial standpoint, it’s understandable—but ultimately, it’s a short-sighted approach. Many of the newer leaders have come from outside organizations, and it’s not surprising to think they’ll eventually move on to the next company and repeat the same cycle. It’s disheartening to witness, especially at a company that once felt immune to that kind of turnover. The workload can be overwhelming. Especially due to staffing cuts. And, while there are opportunities to learn, the sheer volume of tasks makes it hard to focus or complete anything effectively. The sheer amount of tasks and day-to-day things you will end up doing, you won't be able to get any work done. Learning the systems can take a while. On the positive side, the company is generally flexible when it comes to work/life balance, especially for those with children or other commitments. Still, the reduced headcount means the remaining employees bear a heavy burden. I give those who are trying to apply a word of caution—you will overwork yourself and be anxious trying to learn everything. Not everyone is well-versed in life insurance/annuities, and that alone can take some time to learn—remember that. Job seekers, look elsewhere.
