Pros

It's better than being unemployed. Most staff in IT have some flexibility in working hours because of the necessity of working off-hours, but that also is dependent on your manager.

Cons

There are simply too many managers, and quite a few managers that are unqualified. There is quite a bit of staff turn-over. There is a growing dependency on contractors because the company is not prepared to commit to staff positions. There is a seemingly endless roll-out of new processes and procedures that is reducing productivity. What matters the most is the bottom line and meeting a endless list of metrics. It is inconceivable that productivity is increasing.
