Pros

The benefits are great though the Health Insurance costs did go up for 2020 after the merger (SunTrust / BB&T). The people on my team were fantastic to work with. Everyone pitched in and helped each other and that includes reaching out to other Lines of Business and IT teams. There was a LOT of flexibility regarding telecommuting but that diminished after the merger.

Cons

There are significant changes going on due to the Merger in December and many processes, team composition and structures are in constant flux. Most SunTrust teammates live(d) in Atlanta and most BB&T associates live(d) in Raleigh-Duram. The Truist headquarters is now in Charlotte, NC and people are being asked to relocate. There is concern that over the next 18 months more people will be asked to relocate and that upward advancement or a change in position will require a relocation. Telecommuting is not supported well and it is not desirable to upper management - video conferences is not available in most conference rooms.

Great, except for staffing issues

Pros

My manager is great and supportive! She is doing everything thing she can to give us the tools necessary to succeed.

Cons

Staffing! My branch is down to a branch leader, me, and 2 part time. We are a very busy branch that needs double that to survive. Due to lack of staffing, going home every night exhausted due to the steady stream of clients from open to close. I have to sneak away for lunch before a client or teammate sees me and stops me with an issue or problem. Getting CCGs and calls made isn't happening due to constant stream of clients, but upper management will ask why they aren't done. I would love for Dante or Alison or area leaders to spend a day in my shoes to see what the refusal to hire people has done to us in the branches. I have zero work/life balance due to being constantly exhausted.

Pros

Short commute The job itself is easy if you’ve done banking before

Cons

Technology is outdated Cheap, the “budget” doesn’t even let branches order water and coffee anymore Constant technical issues Disorganized and chaotic No consistency with applying policies and procedures Sales are the focus, not client satisfaction Having worked through WF and their meltdown a years ago, Truist is getting very close to using unethical practices to bring in business. Too close. Manager inconsistent and rules are arbitrarily applied Schedule is inconsistent with meetings that may or may not happen with little to no notice Having worked at another institution, I would never advise my loved ones to bank here, there are so many other benefits elsewhere Not the place for someone who knows what they’re doing beyond just pushing products, you’ll pretty much get told to just shut up and sell, sell, sell HR and back office is not that great
